Meet our newest pattern release: Edena’s Star Block! This is a big 20″ square block pattern that can be made into a wall hanging or you can make multiple blocks and make a quilt. This version is a pink scrappy version that I made into a wall hanging and it is so fun!
You can grab the Edena’s Star Block Pattern in the It’s Only Fabric and Thread Shop!
The Best Scrappy Quilt Block
My favorite quilt blocks are the ones that allow me to use scraps from my scrap bins! My pink and purple scrap bin had been overflowing, so I was excited to dig into those scraps when I made my first test block for the Edena’s Stars Block pattern.
I used all different shades and scales of pink fabrics for this block. If you look at the picture above you can see florals, solids, gingham, and other pink fabrics. I also used all different low volume white fabrics for the background fabrics too. Mixing scraps like this makes my favorite scrappy quilt block. I was very tempted to make more of these scrappy pink Edena’s Star Blocks and turn it into a lap quilt. I really think it would make such a gorgeous scrappy quilt! (Maybe later this year…)
Quilting the Pink Scrappy Edena's Star Block
When I was thinking about quilting my Pink Scrappy Edena’s Star block I originally wanted to do a simple grid. However, I really wanted to highlight the block so I decided to do some echoing lines that moved outward from the center of the block. You can really see the texture below! My lines my not be perfectly straight, but man is that texture is amazing.
Adding Binding to My Scrappy Pink Edena's Star Block
Staying on theme with using my scraps, I choose to add a pink scrappy binding to my scrappy pink Edena’s Star Quilt Block. It really does frame the block nicely and I can’t wait to find a spot on the wall to hang this block!
