I’m so excited to be sharing my newest quilt pattern, Darling Amore. I originally designed this pattern in early 2022 and sat on the design for a while before I decided to make a sample and see if I wanted to write the pattern. Needless to say, once I made the sample I was in love with the mega block design.

This pattern uses half square triangles and quick corner triangles along with traditional piecing. There are some big pieces to cut but it is worth it for this modern quilt pattern!

Darling Amore is great for the confident beginner and includes instructions for making the 63″ square version or adding borders to make it 70″ square. This pattern uses yardage but could easily be adapted to make a scrappy version, which is likely the next version I will make. It is a big quilt that is nice and cozy once its all quilted up!

Darling Amore is available in the It’s Only Fabric and Thread shop.

MODA BELLA SOLIDS MODERN QUILT

Darling Amore is a really great modern quilt pattern because the design can look so different depending on the fabrics you choose. For my sample of the quilt I choose to use Moda Bella Solids in the following colors to create an ombre effect.

  • Pomegranate
  • Sisters Pink
  • Betty’s Pink
  • Azalea
  • Super White
  • Ruby Ice

I also loved how the Ruby Mint looked with the pink as a background fabric. It really provided a perfect contrast.

DARLING AMORE QUILT PATTERN

The Darling Amore quilt pattern provides instructions on how to make a 63″ square quilt top using half square triangles and quick corner triangles along with traditional piecing. What makes this a confident beginner pattern are the 1″ strips that provide accents to the design. If you haven’t sewn small strips, this is a fun pattern to help you develop that skill!

Darling Amore also has the option to add a 3 ½” border to make it 70″ square, making the quilt bigger for cuddling!

QUILTING AND FINISHING THE DARLING AMORE QUILT

I decided to try a new to me all over quilting design for my Darling Amore Quilt: Large scale topography-ish quilting. I drew inspiration from topography maps and also tree rings. I plan on making another post soon to go into this quilting design in more detail. For now though I’ve included some images so you can see exactly how I quilted my Darling Amore Quilt. I have to say i really like how this design turned out. It’s not a super dense design so the quilt is still quite snuggly!

After I had finished the quilting, I decided that I wanted a binding that would frame the quilt. I decided on Moda Bella Solid in Pomegranate since that color was in the center of the quilt as well. I think it added the perfect pop of color but tied into the design too!
