What is National Quilting Day?
National Quilting Day is an annual holiday to celebrate the rich history of quilt making. The holiday is coordinated by the Quilt Alliance and the National Quilt Museum. If you look up the origins of this holiday it was originally a “Quilter’s Day Out” back in 1989 organized by the Kentucky Heritage Quilt Society. A group of local quilt makers gathered together to share their makes and love of quilt making. This group elected to make this an annual event; the first formal National Quilt Day was celebrated in 1992!
When is National Quilting Day?
National Quilting day is celebrated annually on the third Saturday of March. Last year it was celebrated on March 19, 2022. This year it will be celebrated on March 18, 2023. Next year it will be celebrated on March 16, 2024.
